On November 22nd, Vice Governor Xia Geng met with Martin Hamilton-Smith, Minister of Investment and Trade of South Australia, and the delegates of Shandong Connect Program in Jinan.
Vice Governor welcomed the delegation for their visit, and expressed appreciation for the hospitality received during his visit to South Australia this september. He indicated that 2016 marks the 30th Anniversary of Sister State-Province Relationship between South Australia and Shandong, series of celebrating activities were held between the two sides, which delievered good performance. Currently, the Sister State-Province Relationship takes on a new path which is more diversified, and the exchanges and cooperation have become more systematic and regular. He hopes that the two sides could keep this momentum of comprehensive development, and consistently establish new cooperation, so as to benefit the people of the two sides.
Minister Martin Hamilton-Smith forwarded Premier Jay Weatherill's greetings to Party Secretary Jiang Yikang, Governor Guo Shuqing, and Vice Governor Xia Geng. He mentioned that the High Level Working Group mechanism established between the two sides enabled Shandong and South Australia to meet and exchange on a regular basis, which delivered good performance. Hundreds of Cooperation Agreements and MOUs were signed by the two sides, he hoped that cooperation could be further deepened in sectors such as: education, business, and elderly-care. In 2017, South Australia will continue to send delegation to match with their Shandong counterparts. Shandong Connect Program is a new approach, and it will enhance the mutual understanding and upgrade our friendly cooperation to a new level.
Minister Martin Hamilton-Smith and the delegation of Shandong Connect Program will also visit Qingdao and Weifang.
