The 2017 Shandong Province Cultural and Tourism Products Exposition, jointly hosted by the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province and Shandong Tourism Development Committee, kicked off in Tokyo, Japan on Mar. 7th, 2017. Over 200 people from China and Japan attended the opening ceremony.
Nearly 100 enterprises and related departments took part in the Expo. Products with distinctive Shandong features are showcased such as traditional handicrafts, cartoon and games as well as their derivative products, entertainment products, intangible cultural heritage and tourism products including paintings, calligraphy, books, kites, paper-cuts, clay sculpture and woodcarving.
Shandong -Japan Economic and Cultural Organization Union was officially established at the opening ceremony of the Expo.
As one of the big economic provinces on the east coast of China, Shandong boasts frequent communications with Japan. The event aims to promote Shandong and Japan’s communication and cooperation in the fields of tourism and culture.
The cultural products showcased at the Expo drew the attention of large numbers of Japanese. The traditional handicrafts from Weihai, Qufu and Jiaodong Peninsular are remarkably true to life. There were also on-the-spot demonstrations performed by old artists.
Shandong province and Japan enjoy a long history and geographical advantages in commercial and cultural communication. Shandong wants to display its profound cultural deposits and abundant tourism resources so as to strengthen its cooperation with Japan.
