On the afternoon of April 12th, Liu Jiayi, Secretary of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, met with the delegation headed by Ms. Jan Adams, Australian Ambassador to China, in Jinan.
Liu Jiayi expressed welcome to the guests. Liu said, "President Xi Jinping visited Australia in 2014 and elevated the China-Australia relationship to comprehensive strategic partners. Under the guidance of cooperation consensus achieved by the leaders of the two countries, the concrete cooperation between Shandong and various states of Australia are presented with new opportunities, and the economic and trade ties are increasingly close. Shandong is implementing all the decisions and arrangement of CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, firmly practicing new development ideas, promoting supply-side structural reform, accelerating industrial structure adjustment, facilitating transformation and upgrading of various sectors, in particular iron and steel, coal and other heavy industries, improving ecological environment, and striving for sustained and sound development of economy. With the support of China-Australia FTA and on the current sound cooperation foundation, the two sides could constantly deepen cooperation and exchanges in such areas as science and technology, technology, environmental protection, healthcare and agriculture, thus making positive contribution to the sound and steady development of the relationship of comprehensive strategic partners."
Ambassador Adams said that this was her first time to Shandong. The vibrant cities and enterprises left her wonderful impression. Shandong was making efforts to transform from traditional industries to industries less dependent on resources, providing great opportunities for Australia and Shandong to cooperation in clean energy, environmental protection and urban planning. In the future, the two sides could work together to deal with challenges brought by industrial transition, promote investment and trade and realize win-win development.
Vice Governor Ji Xiangqi, heads of Shandong Foreign Affairs Office, She Chunming, Director-General of Department of Commerce of Shandong Province and Shandong SASAC also attended the meeting.
