On the afternoon of August 30th, Liu Jiayi, Secretary of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, met with Chiang pin-kun, Chairman of the Taiwan-based Cross Straits Economic, Trade and Cultural Exchange Association and Fu Kunqi, head of Hualien county. Liu Jiayi welcomed the guests to attend the 23rd Shandong-Taiwan Economic and Trade Fair on behalf of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and Shandong Provincial Government. He said Shandong will provide a better business environment and social environment for Taiwanese businessmen’s development in Shandong Province. Liu hoped that the two parties will further strengthen economic and trade cooperation and increase cultural exchanges to make contributions to the in-depth cooperation and exchanges between the two sides on the basis of good cooperation over the years. Chiang pin-kun said that Shandong is rich in resources and has a strong industrial base. It attaches great importance to Taiwanese businessmen and Taiwan fund. It has witnessed close exchanges and fruitful cooperation between the two sides in recent years. He hoped the two sides will further strengthen cooperation in such fields as agriculture, tourism and modern service industry, increase youth exchanges, jointly promote the Shandong-Taiwan cooperation to a new level, achieve win-win and benefit the people of the two sides. Shandong Provincial leaders Hu Wenrong and Xing Shanping, She Chunming, Director-General of Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, and other provincials from relevant departments attended the meeting.
