From September 6th to 15th, the Shandong provincial delegation, headed by Mr. Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and Governor of Shandong Province, successfully visited Australia, New Zealand and Belarus. The visit has deepened cooperation, achieved fruitful results and added new impetus to the innovative, sustainable and pioneering development of the province.
Australia boasts abundant resources, diversified culture, strong innovative power and dynamic new industries. New South Wales is Australia's most economically powerful state with advanced manufacturing, high-tech and other new industries. During the visit, Gong Zheng met with New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian. The two sides discussed and agreed on strengthening pragmatic cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, health care, education, finance, culture, tourism and infrastructure; Gong attended the China (Shandong) - Australia Investment and Trade Seminar to showcase the new achievement and new vision of the province and promote the major program of the transition of growth drivers; Gong Zheng met with Mark Whelan, Group Executive of Institutional ANZ and visited the LUYE Group Hurstville Hospital.
In South Australia, Governor Gong met with Premier Jay Weatherill. The two sides reviewed their cooperation over the past 31 years, and agreed to better align development strategies, improve communication and cooperation mechanisms, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and promote the establishment of Shandong-south Australia mutually economic benefit office; Gone Zheng met with South Australia Governor Hieu Van Le, attended Opening Session of the Shandong-SA Economic Cooperation Forum and China–Australia VET Forum, and donated Chinese and English books to South Australia's first bilingual school - Plympton International College R-12; the delegation visited the 2017 Royal Adelaide Show, and examined the financial innovation, health care, combined medical and elderly care services, utilization of water resources, agricultural production, science and technology research and development, brand building, and marketing network of South Austrlia; the delegation visited SAHMRI to study its advantages and advanced technology;the delegation also visited the South Australian water treatment demonstration project.
In New Zealand, Gong Zheng met with Mr. Phil Goff, Mayor of Auckland. The two sides reached consensus on strengthening high-level communication, innovating exchanges and cooperation mechanism, promoting two-way investment and trade, and deepening pragmatic cooperation in various fields; Gong Zheng and Jenny Shipley, the former Prime Minister of New Zealand and other businessmen attended the China (Shandong) - New Zealand business meeting; the delegation also visited Fonterra headquarters and Fisher&Paykel HQ.
In Belarus, Gong Zheng met with Andrei Vladimirovich Kobyakov, Prime Minister of Belarus, and witnessed the signing ceremony of the joint venture project between Weichai Power and MAZ. Gong Zheng and Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Kalinin visited the China-Belarus Industrial Park together. Mr. Gong also visited the national academy of sciences in Belarus and witnessed the signing of several agreements. In the state of Vitebsk. Gone met with Mr. Oleg Matskevich, the first Vice Governor of Vitebsk, and visited the local agricultural exhibition. Gong Zheng also visited Orsha Linen Mill, the largest linen producer in CIS even Europe.
Gu Xiaojie, Consul-General of China in Sydney, Cai Siping, Consul-General of China in Adelaide, Xu Erwen, Consul-General of China in Auckland, and Luo Zhanhui, China Charge D'Affaires in Belarus also attended relevant activities. Wang Hua, Secretary-General of Shandong Provincial Government, and officials of Shandong Development and Reform Commission, Shandong Department of Commerce and Shandong Foreign Affairs Office, as well as a few municipal leaders also accompanied the visit.
